WordPress and VideoPress

On Friday, I decided to place school video on WordPress.Com blog called whittiermedia. In addition, I added the premium feature called Videopress.  VideoPress enables easy upload of large video shorts and no charges on bandwith use.

Flickr Integration

A flickr pro account offers unlimited uploads of photos.  Flickr also offers an easy way to blog photos onto a wordpress site. The last fwo days, I blogged two photos onto our escuelawhittier site.  In addition, I added a way to post sets of  photos from flickr into a wordpress  post via Flickr-digest plugin.  Check out the whittierschool.org site for two examples. Nice!!

Keyboarding 101

This year, our staff began the process of mapping out our writing curriculum. One of the collective decisions was for our elementary students to begin the process of learning how to keyboard. So far so good. Looking at the students learn proper hand placement and posture , I remember my first steps on learning to play the piano. It is about process and ongoing practice between projects. Flashbacks of drills came back to me. The digital natives are working at it.

Technology Class

Technology Class

Today is the first day of classes. New third graders meet me for the first time as a technologist. There I am, surveying my new students on their access to technology at home and cluing them in to the new Chicago Public Schools Acceptable Use Policy. A good day overall. About 40 percent of the students in this third grade class have access to a computer at home. Thanks to Maestro Orlando for taking this photo.
